Trip at the Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival in Morocco

The Prize In Detail

TPOTY Chris Coe

The winner of the 2012 New Talent category wil travel to Morroco with Tribes Travel to photograph the Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival in June 2012.

In June every year the picturesque port town of Essaouira on Morocco’s Atlantic coast becomes a frenzy of activity when the annual Music Festival takes place. This is all about the local Gnaoua music plus world music too. The main stage is in the central square, but there are other stages scattered throughout the town, and thousands of music lovers come to listen to bands, singers and musicians from Morocco and around the world. And if it all gets a bit much, the town itself is a gorgeous old walled city with ramparts overlooking the sea, and a bustling fishing port which is also very photogenic.

You will arrive on Thursday in the afternoon in Marrakech and be transferred the 3 hours to Essaouira. Here you stay in simple but comfortable accommodation on a B& basis for 3 nights. This gives you two full days (Friday and Saturday) to enjoy the festival. On Sunday it all starts winding down, so we will transfer you back to Marrakech where you have a last night. This will give you some time to explore the souks and sights of this evocative city, before heading back to the UK the next morning.

The prize is for one person and includes: Return flights to Marrakech on low cost airline from the UK; accommodation for 4 nights on B&B basis; transfers to and from Essaouira from Marrakech..

This trip will be both an auditory and visual treat, and will provide a wealth of photographic opportunities. Don't miss it!
